
PLUMBING
COURSE OUTLINE
This 10-month program (1080 hours) is designed to provide the knowledge and skills necessary to assemble, install and
repair pipes, fittings and fixtures of heating, water and drainage systems using building plans and working drawings and
hand and power tools; cut, thread and bend pipe; assemble and install valves, pipe fittings, and pipes composed of metals
and nonmetals; join pipes; caulk joints; use pressure gauges to determine whether system is leaking; install and repair
plumbing fixtures such as sinks, commodes, bathtubs, water heaters, hot water tanks, garbage disposal units,
dishwashers, and water softeners; repair and maintain plumbing by replacing washers, mending burst pipes and opening
clogged drains. Students are able to work as plumbers.
Course Length
The Plumbing Technology program is a two-year program consisting of 1080 hours of instruction. Adult students
attending all day can complete the program in one year.
Performance Grade
The daily performance grade is determined as follows:
Classroom & Lab Instruction/Participation 10 Points
Work Area Clean-up 5 Points
Safety Procedures 5 Points
20 Points possible per day
Nine Weeks Grade Grading Scale
The nine weeks grade is determined as follows: A = 90 – 100 Earns Credit
B = 80 – 89 Earns Credit
Tests & Quizzes 15% C = 70 – 79 Earns Credit
Performance Grade 50% D = 60 – 69 Earns Credit
BASES 20% below 59 No Credit
Final 15%
Graduation Requirements
Certificate of Hours Eligibility – C or better in Course
Diploma Eligibility – Recommended by Instructor
C or better in All Courses / over all C average
Miss no more than 10% of the required yearly attendance
Instructor’s Office Hours: 7:50am-8:30am, 11:45am-12:15pm, 3:05pm-3:20pm
